More than 10 000 athletesi, including First Lady Neo Masisi,, are set to participate in this year's Diacore Marathon in Gaborone on Sunday. During a press conference  on Thursday, Keamogetse Kgomela, the Diacore Marathon media coordinator, mentioned that the majority of registered participants would be in the 10km category. Kgomela also stated that around 27 countries have registered to take part in the marathon, clarifying that while it is not an Olympic qualifier, it serves as a Comrades Marathon qualifier. The marathon's theme for this year is 'Rise Run Paris,' which is aligned with international events, particularly the upcoming Olympics in Paris. Kgomela emphasised that both the Paris Olympics and the Diacore Marathon promote not only health and fitness but also inspire healthier lifestyles and a greater interest in sports, acting as a unifying force.
