The Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) will host a four-nation event, which starts on Monday.

Botswana, Rwanda, Mozambique’s and Lesotho will slug it out in the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 International Tournament, which will run until April 27.

The BCA vice chairperson, Sumod Damodar said they had been preparing well to welcome the three nations.

He said Botswana was one of the first countries in Africa to host the women’s cricket some years back, hence they found it prudent to continue with it again this year.

He said the tournament would be played in a double round robin format, and all the teams would have an opportunity to play each other twice.

He said the format would provide for more matches adding that alone would also give the players platform to improve with the games as they play more matches.

“It will also be an ICC sanctioned event, whereby all matches played will be considered towards the ICC Women’s T20 rankings,” he said.

The first game will pit Botswana against Lesotho in the morning and later followed by Rwanda and Mozambique game.

In the afternoon, Rwanda will face Lesotho while Botswana will take on Mozambique.

Team Botswana is made up of Laura Mophakedi (captain), Tuelo Shadrack (vice-captain), Goabilwe Matome, Onneile Keitsemang, Realeboga Mapotsane, Oratile Kgeresi, Kesego Inakale, Bofelo Moutswi, Merapelo Phiase, Amantle Mokgotlhe, Tebogo Moitoi, Lesego Kooagile, Aliya Motorwala, and Mercy Dipogiso.
