Newly found rivals, Gaborone United and Jwaneng Galaxy have been pitted against each other in the quarter finals of the Orange FC Cup, which will be played at venues and dates to be confirmed.

After the draw was conducted following GU’s elimination of Security Systems at the Dinaletsana Academy on April 14, many Gaborone United supporters reacted with mixed emotions, with others happy to renew their rivalry with Lesagaripa, as Galaxy are fondly known, while others feared the worst.

When the two teams meet in the cup, a lot will be at stake.

Gaborone United sees the FA Cup as their last realistic hope of participating in the CAF competitions, and is therefore likely to treat the game with more seriousness than they do the league.

Moyagoleele has never gone past the group stages of any CAF competition they participated in, a record they would want to erase, hence their eagerness to try their luck annually.

On the other hand, despite still having a chance at bagging the league, Galaxy will also not treat the FA Cup lightly as it is the only domestic cup they have never won since their formation 10 years ago.

Galaxy officials have been quoted in the past indicating their eagerness to win the only cup that has eluded them for so long, which makes it a Holy Grail for the mining town-based team.

In the other fixtures, Township Rollers have been paired against another mining town giant, Orapa United.

The Ostriches have not been at their best this season and will look at winning the FA Cup as their only chance at salvaging pride.

Rollers on the other hand still have a chance at a double, as they are currently the only team realistically challenging Galaxy for the championship honours.

Another mining town team, Sua Flamingoes will face their Francistown neighbour, TAFIC while surprise package, UB Hawks, will face Police XI.

UB Hawks are the only lower division team remaining in the competition and looking at their performance in the Debswana First Division South since the second round, The Students are likely to take the fight to the Jungle Kings. ENDS
