Chadibe FC suffered a 2-1 defeat at home at the hands of Peacemakers FC in a Debswana First Division North league game played in Chadibe grounds on Saturday.
Bobonong-based outfit proved to be a stronger team on the day as Chadibe FC struggled throughout the game, and it was clear that they were outmatched by their opponents. The home team had several opportunities to score, but were unable to convert any of them.
Despite their best efforts, Chadibe FC was unable to establish any sort of cohesion throughout the game. In contrast, Peacemakers took advantage of every opportunity they had and made the most of their chances.
Though the home team tried everything they could to please the supporters, it was not enough to overcome their opponent’s superior performance. For those who attended the game, it was clear that this was not the same Chadibe team that had dominated lower divisions in the past.
They seemed to be missing the spark and energy that had previously led them to success, likely due to the increased level of pressure in competition they now faced. The difference in quality was obvious, and it was clear that Chadibe would need to improve significantly if they wanted to compete at high level.
Peacemakers’ first goal came midway first half, when Lekopanye Moagi slotted the ball home after being set by Thabang Watlala from the left flank.
It was a moment of magic that put Peacemakers in the lead and gave them the confidence they needed to control the game. From then on, they played with a renewed energy and determination, dominating possession and creating chances.
The two teams went to recess with Peacemakers leading with a goal. In the second half, Chadibe FC emerged from the dressing room with a renewed sense of purpose. Their teamwork and organisation paid off when Moses Nyathi found the back of the net to level the score.
With the score even, the game became more intense, and Maitseo Dimbo began to torment the Pacemakers defense with his skillful play.
He nearly scored on several occasions, putting the crowd on the edge of their seats.
With the game heading for a draw, few would have predicted the dramatic turn of events that would take place in the 80th minute, when Thabang Watlala struck with a powerful shot into the top corner, sending the Peacemakers fans into a frenzy.
The goal was made possible by a brilliant pass from Gofaone Moleti, who had been impressive throughout the game.
The goal sealed victory for Peacemakers, who celebrated with jubilation.
After the game, Peacemakers coach, Ntini Stanford happy with the victory noted that their team had been a bit too undisciplined on the field.
He said they needed to tighten up their game to maintain their winning form.
Chadibe coach Thatayaone Sonny took a more positive view of the game, viewing it as a learning experience for the team and an opportunity to improve in future matches. ENDS
