Tsogwane implores new committee to unite party

Factions within any political party can be detrimental to its future and growth.
Therefore, speaking at the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) central region elective congress in Rakops on Saturday, Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane encouraged fellow democrats to desist from such, saying the behaviour was old fashioned and could be a setback in the growth of the party.
As the country is nearing its general elections in October, Mr Tsogwane, who is also Member of Parliament for Boteti West, highlighted that it was crucial that the party united in a bid to triumph.
On another issue, the Vice President encouraged contenders for any position to campaign in a dignified manner and not offend the BDP constitution.
He said when campaigning, people should portray Botho and avoid using inappropriate language.
Furthermore, the BDP chairperson told members of the party that social media had eased information relay, but it should be used in an acceptable manner as some tended to abuse it, to an extent of insulting others.
He said social media groups for politicians should strictly be used for their intended purposes.
Mr Tsogwane encouraged the newly elected central region committee to work tirelessly to unite the BDP towards the upcoming general elections.
He also encouraged the committee to familiarise themselves with the BDP constitution.
Chairperson of the new committee, Mr Bethuel Botumile thanked fellow democrats for the nomination, adding that they would work hard and take the party to greater heights.
He however noted that central region was vast, hence the need for more resources. Ends
