Lifecycle Events and Timing with technical partners, Tsela Riders Cycling Club will this weekend host a two-day stage cycling race in Bobonong.

The race, Senkgamorodi Cycle Classic, is an inaugural road race under Senkgamorodi Agro farms in Bobonong.

The organiser of the event, Gobona Mantle, said the race would expose cyclists to another tourism hub of the country as riders would pass through three different villages in Bobirwa region.

“A lot of focus is always put in the Okavango and Chobe areas, giving less attention to Bobirwa area, which houses Tuli Block and Thune Dam as well as the baobab trees along the Tsetsebjwe road that are rich in tourism potential,” Mantle said adding that Bobirwa was also known for its precious stones.

Mantle said riders would experience the beautiful scenery and landscape of Bobirwa.

Senkgamorodi Cycle Classic will be a 115km distance race for men and 90km for women in the first day of the race, whilst on the second day both men and women will do a 90km stretch.

The second day of the race will also have Junior and Corporate categories doing 60km.

To spice up this race event, organisers have introduced the 30km Hamba category which will see local riders sharing the route with other cyclists at a competitive level.

Mantle said the race would test riders’ physical and mental strength, particularly as some were preparing for the Cape Town Cycle Tour next month.

“Senkgamorodi Cycle Classic is the highest level of performance that will need mental preparedness and strategy. It is also a training ground for riders who are looking to improve their performance and endurance,” she said. ENDS
