Against all odds, City Polars managed to defeat the high-flying Jwaneng Young Stars in their own stadium on Saturday. The underdogs came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory at the Galaxy Stadium.
The game began with Jwaneng Young Stars taking the lead, scoring barely three minutes into the match through Karabo Seleinyane's easy tap-in. However, City Polars regrouped and denied Young Stars further scoring opportunities, while also managing to equalize in the second half through Golesedi Motlopi. Shortly after, Thapelo Mosugadikobo secured the winning goal, ensuring that City Polars took all three points.
Following the game, winning coach Amuchilane Fani mentioned that his team was unsettled in the early stages of the game, but he was able to calm them down, allowing them to play their game effectively and build from the back. He also noted the match's physical and tactical challenges.
Dinaletsana coach, Andrew Tlou, expressed disappointment with his team's poor marking in defense, but acknowledged City Polars' ability to capitalise on their opportunities. Despite the loss, Jwaneng Young Stars remain at the top of the Debswana First Division South log, holding a two-point cushion.
