Collaborating with organisation such as The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA), can help sports associations to tap into a wealth of expertise, resources, and networks.

Botswana National Sport Commission chairperson, Marumo Morule said at the launch of The Girls’ Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway programme by Women and Sport Botswana (WASBO) and TAFISA on Friday, that such partnerships could also help in augmenting the grants that the associations received from government.

Furthermore, he said the partnerships also ensured that there was a diverse range of perspectives and expertise involved in the development of programmes.

“Collaboration allows different organisations to bring their unique strength to table, resulting in comprehensive and inclusive initiatives,” he said.

Morule said partnerships amplify the visibility and credibility of the initiative, adding by aligning themselves with internationally recognised organisations of TAFISA’s likeness would also help Botswana to gain access to their global networks and helped to establish themselves as leaders and pioneers in the field of empowering girls in sports.

The Girls’ Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway programme’s objectives include amongst others raising awareness regarding the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle among girls and women, promoting the need for adapted coaching tailored to girls and women

In that regard, Morule said it would boost associations to ultimately reach more individuals and ultimately making a greater impact.

Evaluation coordinator Dr Shikha Trivedi said a project’s success depended on close monitoring and evaluation.

She said as she would be monitoring the project they would strive to adhere to the requirements.

Dr Shikha said all the coaches would be interviewed at the end of the project, to see if they had gained something adding that such would give them a real picture regarding the success of the project. ENDS
