Crunch time for BFL
17 Jan 2024
Botswana Football League (BFL) shareholders will this weekend converge at the Majestic Five Hotel in Palapye to determine the fate of the domestic league, among other matters.
In an interview with BOPA, the shareholders’ spokesperson, Godfrey Ratlhaga said they were concerned about suspension of the league and were hopeful that all matters would be ironed out soon.
“Some of the main issues that will be discussed at the meeting will of course be the current status of the league, both elite and first divisions.
However, as much as we want to be done with this matter and allow football to start rolling, we cannot promise that the resolution to restart the league will be taken this weekend,” he said.
Ratlhaga said matters such as the finances of the league, the current case that was before arbitration filed by Nicholas Zakhem and Jagdish Shah were some of the factors that would determine whether the leagues kick off or not.
He disclosed that they were expecting to be updated by various stakeholders such as Botswana Football Association, Mascom, Botswana Television, and Absa Bank Botswana. Ends
