Manyana Eleven wins Karabo Gare sports tournament

Manyana Eleven Experience were crowned the winners of Karabo Gare sports tournament after thrashing Masione F.C 2-0 and walked away with P7 000, followed by Lucky brothers with P6 000.
Mogonye Combination Stars came third with P5 000, while Masione finished on fourth position, winning P4 000 and Siyadlala walked away with P3 000.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of a six-day tournament in Manyana on Thursday, the area Member of Parliament, Karabo Gare said they intended to unveil different sporting talents and create employment opportunities.
He said it was government’s aim to improve the citizens’ lives through different sectors such as sports, adding that the tournament was his contribution towards the cause.
Minister Gare informed the participants that the tournament was just a start, hence the need for them to continue working hard to ensure that the event’s aim was attained.
Tlhagiso Sethibe, the chairperson of Manyana Community Development Trust and of the tournament’s organising committee explained that they intended to raise funds that would be used to buy training equipment for the participants.
He said entrance fees and payments from those who set up stalls would be used for community development in Manyana.
Mr Sethibe said they would engage BotswanaPos to refurbish the village post office to bring it to a better standard to serve the community.
He said the other aim of the event was to bring the community together and instil the spirit of self-empowerment.
The event, he said, also kept the community from different social ills as they spent most of their time at the grounds.
Minister Gare sponsored the tournament with prize monies and funds to buy training equipment for the teams. The tournament was held under the theme; Mmogo re ka kgona. Ends
