Terence beat defending champion Chetan 4-2 in the final match

South Africa’s Chetan Natoo (left) battling it out with his countryman, Terence Mathole in an electrifying man singles final of the Phoenix of Botswana Assurance International Table Tennis Open Championship in Gaborone on Monday.
Mathole made a remarkable return to the sport after a five-year absence. He came from behind and beat the defending champion Chetan 4-2 in the final match. In the senior women’s category, Danisha Patel of South Africa displayed her dominance in the tournament by emerging as the back to back champion.
In the final match, she defeated Layla Edwards, also from South Africa, with a convincing score of 4-0. Winners in both categories were awarded P6 000. The championship attracted players from South Africa, Zambia, Malawi and Botswana clubs. ENDS
