A stunning long range volley by substitute striker Christopher Lemme gave Security Systems a 2-1 victory against struggling Morupule Wanderers on Saturday.

The two teams were poised for a draw from a scrappy Botswana Premier League match played at Lobatse Sports Complex.

Lemme however sent a ferocious volley over goalkeeper Michael Pepukani to settle the encounter in the 77th minute, after latching onto a flicked pass from another substitute striker Emmanuel Agyei approximately 30 metres away from the goalposts. Systems were the better side and could have won in a more convincing manner if they had converted their numerous opportunities.

Their first clear cut opportunity was missed by attacking midfielder Odirile Lekoba in the sixth minute.

He shot meekly at Pepukani after being sent clear by a well weighted pass from Tshepo Keselebale behind the Wanderers defence.

Tawana Mbakile then fired a snap shot wide eight minutes later after exchanging passes with Kenanao Kgetholetsile inside the penalty area.

The visitors, led by the veteran Maano Ditshupo and Kealeboga Bonang in midfield, were struggling to find their rhythm.  

Another chance went begging for the ‘Alarm Boys’ after a quick attack by Lekoba in the 24th minute opened the Wanderers defence and presented Bokang Rathipana with an opportunity inside the box.

However, Rathipana failed to connect cleanly with only Pepukani to beat and Tshephang Boithatelo recovered to clear the danger.

Rathipana was unlucky to see his curling effort miss the post by a whisker in the 40th minute.

Even though, Wanderers were flat in attack, Ernest Ngwaga tried to open the Systems defence with his tricky runs on the left wing. He however found Daniel Montshiwa solid to beat.

Tebogo Kopelang and Bophelo Macheng also kept Wanderers strikers Dominic Chungwa and Pako Gaofose quiet.

Gaofose however caught them napping in the 44th minute and sent a glancing header inches wide from a cross by Jackson Lesole. However, sluggish marking at the back allowed Chungwa to level matters for Wanderers four minutes later.

Systems coach David Botlhasitse made another double attacking substitution in the 65th minute introducing Mphaphi Chinyepi for Kgetholetsile and Lemme for Lekoba.

The change paid dividend as Lemme volleyed home from long distance deep in the second half to wrap victory for the hosts. ENDS
