BonaLife Insurance has sponsored 30 pupils from  Masa and Diphetogo primary schools with P150 000 for swimming.

Speaking at the sponsorship announcement and graduation ceremony for some of the swimmers, BonaLife chief executive officer, Phatsimo Keakabetse said the initiative was a testament of their commitment to corporate social responsibility and nurturing the potential of young minds that would shape the future.

She said swimming, beyond being a life skill, was a journey of discipline, focus and confidence. “It is a path to physical fitness and well-being as well as a channel for nurturing skills that would serve the young learners throughout their lives.

She added that they envisioned that the partnership would not only promote academic excellence, but would also encourage a healthy lifestyle and boost self-confidence among pupils.

She said the integration of swimming into the curriculum would help to create a well-rounded approach that recognised the importance of physical well-being alongside academic achievements.

She explained that the swimming programme would offer training in swimming technique, water safety and rescue skills. She added that it was a long term project and that they were committed to its success.

She urged other businesses to invest in the future of learners, adding that they chose to collaborate with Propellers Swimming Academy because it was well known in the world of swimming.

The academy’s co-founder and head coach, Simon Tshwaane said they offered swimming and water rescue lessons that helped in boosting confidence, development as well as fitness.

He said swimming was an excellent activity for overall health and well-being for both children and adults.

He also encouraged people to learn to swim, not only for recreational purposes, but also for safety and fitness. ENDS
