Rollers maintain winning streak

19 Oct 2023

Township Rollers defeated visiting Eleven Angels FC to maintain its perfect start in the Botswana Premier League campaign, during the league encounter at the Royal Aria stadium Wednesday afternoon.
Mapalastina as Rollers are fondly called once again displayed maturity and tenacity putting three past the Francistown side to go top of the league log which enters its third week this coming weekend.
Rollers beat Masitaoka 2-0 in a league opener two weeks ago and are coming face to face with Mmopane based Holy Ghost FC tomorrow in Tlokweng.
Against Eleven Angels it was a highly charged affair with the homeside looking to pick from where they left off against their hoodoo side Masitaoka.
Rollers looked to dominate the stakes immediately after the red hot attacking midfielder Mogakolodi ‘Tsotso’ Ngele headed in a nicely crafted build up pass.
The visitors struggled to get any rhythm going into the opponents danger areas and ten minutes into the second stanza their hopes of making a comeback turned sour as Motsholetsi Sikele extended Rollers lead.
Ngele, Marcell Papama, Obonwe Maome and Tshepo Matete started the game as four changes made to the starting list of Rollers’ opening league game.
Papama who displayed man of the match acumen failed to go into the score sheet as his ill-timed strike went wide off the mark from the edge of the box.
After countless attacks from the homeside and perfect shape in the middle of the park Segolame Boy put the game beyond reach when he struck Rollers third and last goal.
With twenty minutes on the clock Eleven Angels’ Ishmael Tebogo pulled one back for his side.
In other league games played same afternoon Gaborone United dusted from last weekend’s dismal performance against Nico United and inched 3-1 past Morupule Wanderers.
GU alias Moyagoleele takes on VTM FC at the national stadium tomorrow.
New comers Matebele FC registered their first win in top flight football beating the struggling Police XI by 2-1 at the Dinaledi Academy stadium. Matebele will meet Jwaneng Galaxy Friday at the VTM Arena.
BDF XI beat Sua Flamingos 1-0 in Orapa and will face the bruised Eleven Angels at the Obed Itani Chilume stadium in Francistown on Sunday.
Galaxy maintained their clean sheet as they put two past Nico United.
Galaxy are tied with Rollers at the top separated by goal difference and they will hope to make another clean mark when they meet Matebele.
Still on Sunday Security Systems face Masitaoka at the Dinaledi stadium. Ends
