Premier league action back today
17 Oct 2023
Its back to business today as the Botswana Premier League teams return to action after a two-week FIFA break.
All the 16 top flight football teams take to the field in exciting mid-week fixtures billed for different grounds following exciting league opening matches a fortnight ago.
Defending champions, Jwaneng Galaxy FC, who are having an impressive run in the continental CAF champions league remain the only two sides together with Township Rollers to have collected maximum points in their opening games.
Galaxy beat Holy Ghost while Rollers scalped their hoodoo side Masitaoka FC 2-0.
Galaxy will lie in wait for Nico United to pick up from where they left off last time.
Majombolo, as Nico United are fondly called by its legion of fans may not be an easy task for Morena Ramorebodi’s side as they were as hard as nails against visiting Gaborone United (GU) in their last outing in Selibe Phikwe.
Francistown based youthful side Eleven Angels have a mammoth task against the rejuvenated Mapalastina, as Rollers are fondly called by its hordes of fans.
The two meet in a game that has been moved to 1630 hours.
GU will lie in wait for Morupule Wanderers, who were unlucky to travel back to Morupule with all maximum points in their last encounter against Eleven Angels, conceding in the dying minute.
Sua Flamingos will like to pick up the pieces and make amends from their poor start, dropping all the two important points against struggling Police XI in their opening match.
They host BDF XI at the Sowa Town stadium in a game slated for 1600 hours. After a goaless draw with BDF XI Leutlwetse Tshireletso’s charges VTM FC square up against Security Systems at the VTM arena at 1600 hours too.
Masitaoka FC, who are still smarting from their opening defeat at the hands of Rollers will try to make amends when they face Orapa United at Itekeng ground.
Holy Ghost will entertain visiting Tafic FC in Lobatse while Police XI travel to the Dinaledi Football Academy football stadium for a tricky date with Matebele FC. ENDs
