Double Action in historic final today

Double Action will today play in a historic final against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
Double Action play in the momentous match after beating Costa Do Sol of Mozambique 2-0 on Wednesday, courtesy of Ontlametse Gaonyadiwe’s brace.
On their road to the finals, Double Action who were in Group A, played to a one-all draw against Green Buffaloes of Zambia, beat Ntopwa FC of Malawi 4-0 before losing 0-1 to Lesotho Defence Force.
Against Mamelodi Sundowns, Double Action are expected to come all guns blazing and will be pinning their hopes on Lesego Radiakanyo, Ontlametse Gaonyadiwe, Oratile Rathari to devastate the Sundowns defence.
Then again, Double Action need to be wary of Refilwe Tholakelo, Chuene Morifi and Lebohang Ramalepe who might also be a spoilsport for them.
In an interview, Double Action assistant coach, William Monene said they were aware of a difficult fixture ahead of them but would do their best to win the encounter.
“We are facing a strong opposition but I think we are in a good position to win a gold after winning a bronze in the last edition. The ladies have shown a lot of character and advancing to the finals is a good thing for the women’s football and for Botswana,” Monene said.
He said morale in the camp was high and all payers were in good health and looking forward to today’s game.
In their previous encounter, the two sides had played to a one-all draw and according to Monene, having watched a semi-final between Sundowns and Green Buffaloes, should be motivation for his side to do even better because not much had changed in their opposition’s style of play.
“Sundowns’ style of play remains the same as they play with three at the back, five in the midfield and two upfront.
However, Sundowns are a good side and we cannot take anything away from them.
But we have prepared well for them,” he said. Meanwhile, the winners of today’s match will represent the COSAFA region at the Women’s Champions League finals to be played in Ivory Coast in November. ENDS
