Students have been encouraged to find balance between sports and academics since the two complement each other.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony of Radisele Centre of Sports Excellence recently, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) CEO Tuelo Serufho said in other countries sports medalists were educated with most of them having went to tertiary level, a decision which helped them to live a better life.
He said many sport students did not excel in their studies yet they were capable, as such he encouraged them to value education given uncertainty in professional sporting career.
When giving project overview, Serufho highlighted that the BNSC would construct two volleyball courts (beach volleyball court and a volleyball court) futsal, and ablutions.
He said the project was estimated to cost P5.7 million and expected to be complete in January 2024.
He urged Radisele community to assist in maintaining the facility as it also belonged to them as well.
He further urged private entities to find ways of partnering with the school to promote sport development.
For her part, Radisele Junior School Head Uyapo Samuel expressed gratitude to BNSC for the facility and further commended the Commission for employing fulltime coaches.
She said their dream was to produce students who could be recognised by other countries.
For their part, facility contractors expressed gratitude to BNSC for trusting them with the project.
Mex Electricals Company is responsible for construction of ablution blocks while Town Seed will construct Futsal and volley ball courts. Kgosi Shatani Mmereki appreciated BNSC for the project and noted that it was a big development in their village. ENDS
