Tebogo coach surpass target

Botswana’s sensational sprinter, Letsile Tebogo made history at the just ended World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary when he became the first Motswana to ever win two medals in the same championships.
Tebogo won silver in 100m, making him the first African male athlete to achieve such a feat and also won a bronze medal in 200m.
Tebogo achieve what his coach, Kebonyemodisa Mosimanyane and him never thought was possible.
At the start of the athletics season, Tebogo and Mosimanyane’s target was to finish in the finals at the World Athletics Championships.
But things changed as Tebogo ascended to the podium not once, but twice.
For the past 10 years, a World Athletics Championship medal eluded the country since the last time a medal was won in the championships was in 2011, when Amantle Montsho brought home a gold medal and a silver in 2013.
National team coach, Chilume Ntshwarang has described Tebogo’s performance as world class, adding that it was not easy to compete in double events at major championships and win two medals. He added that he showed class and maturity. Other great athletes who have doubled events include Michael Johnson, Usain Bolt and Wayde Van Niekerk.
“We have a gem in this boy, he ran well through the rounds and was composed,” he said.
Ntshwarang said he impressed by his fighting spirit especially in the 200 metres finals because he had a minor knock, but that it did not deter him to finish at the podium. World championships attract the most talented athletes in the world. ENDS
