TEBOGO IN THE SEMIS

20 Aug 2023

Letsile Tebogo's character will be tested today in the 100-metre semi-finals the at the ongoing World Athletics Championships held at the National Athletics Centre Stadium, in Budapest Hungary at 4.49pm.

Tebogo will be running in heat three lane six and he will be up against American Fred Kerley, Jamaican Oblique Seville, Canadian Brendon Rodney, and Reece Prescod of Great Britain, amongst others.

He won heat four with a time of 10.11 on Saturday to make it to the semis, and national team coach Chilume Ntshwarwang said Tebogo' line up today is difficult looking at the athletes he will be competing against.

He however said the athlete stands a good chance of proceeding to the finals, adding that the way he approached the heat was a sign of maturity.

‘Letsile did not exhaust his reserve tank, he was very economical, I would say it was a mature run, and I guess he is good to go,” he said.

Meanwhile Tebogo told the media in Budapest that he did not start the race well and it was something he was planning to rectify in the semis.

He said their main target is to make it to the finals, given that in the last World Athletics Championships they only made it to the semi-finals.

“I think what I need to make it to the finals is to be fit physically, emotionally and mentally,” he said. ends
