CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers 2023 draw will be conducted August 10 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This year’s edition will witness eight team battle it out in the qualifiers billed for Durban, South Africa from August 30 September 8.

The draw will include Botswana’s Double Action, Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, Costa Do Sol FC of Mozambique, eSwatini’s Young Buffaloes, Lesotho Defence Force, Olympic De Moroni of Comoros, Ntopwa FC of Malawi and Green Buffaloes Women Football Club of Zambia.

According to the draw format Green Buffaloes of Zambia and Mamelodi Sundowns were seeded as last year’s champion and runner ups respectively.

According to the competition’s rule, the eight participating teams will be drawn into two groups.

The winner of the previous edition and the runners-up will be seeded into top position of the two groups respectively.

Each group winner will be determined based on the total number of points attained at the end of the group matches.

According to COSAFA, only the top team in the competition will advance to the continental finals that will be staged in Ivory Coast from November 5-19.

Double Action coach William Monene said in an interview that they were waiting for teams that they would be drawn against.

He said they had been training well for the competition, adding that his team was injury free.

Monene said although the transfer window was open, his team was still compact and they had not lost any player to other teams.

He however said his desire was to beef up his squad, more especially in the midfielder so that they could fully compete.

Monene said most of the teams were not a closed book to them given that they once met them in the last competition.

“I think we will do our best. The whole idea is to make it to the continental finals, and my teams is looking forward to the draw, to know as to which teams they will be up against,” he said. ENDS
