Kalakamati football team win inaugural cup

Kalakamati football team won the inaugural Fight Crime Annual Football tournament by drubbing Mbalambi 4-2 on Monday.
A brace from Bongi Hlabano and single goals from Zandile Nichenge and Goabaone ensured victory for Kalakamati, a trophy and kit.
Tendai Kesekile and Never Olebile gave Mbalambi two consolation goals.
Tati West MP, Simon Moabi, who donated the kit given to the winners said he was determined to assist all teams in his constituency.
He said since this was the first tournament, they would grow it by reaching out to more members of the community so that they could engage in crime prevention activities.
Moabi said they hoped to rope in more stakeholders such as the business community.
According to the police deputy station commander, Assistant Superintendent Mothosera Busang, the tournament intended to promote physical fitness.
He said they aimed at promoting neighborhood watch and know each other.
“One of the objective was to group people together and reduce unnecessary travelling during holidays, thus reducing road accidents,” he said.
Busang said the other objective was to create partnership with community members to come closer together and find common ways to fight the escalating crime in the area.
One of the donors, Mbakiso Mokokomane, said they wanted to help thwart the intensifying crime in the area.
Mokokomane, who donated P2 000, urged the community to report any suspicious activity in the village including people who roamed the village at night.
“To achieve the fight against crime, people should work together and join hands with crime prevention committees and the police,” he said.
On other issues, he said, sport built athlete’s body, mind, soul adding they could use sport to improve their lives. Ends
