Orange FA Cup final weekend

All are in place for the final of season four Orange FA Cup, where defending champions, Gaborone United will face Orapa United on Saturday at the National Stadium.

The two teams’ mouth pieces have both promised supporters a mouthwatering encounter. 

Gaborone United’s marketing and communications manager, Herbert Letsebe indicated that his team was ready for the final.

“All our players are available and at the disposal of the coach. 

They are motivated and we currently have no injuries,” he said. 

He said that Gaborone United was the most successful team in the cup, having appeared in three finals and noted that it would go into the game with intent to defend the cup.

Having missed the league championship after coming second best to Jwaneng Galaxy, Letsebe said that the Orange FA Cup was their only chance at a trophy.

“This is why we will go into this final with all that we have. 

We respect Orapa United as a big team and all that they have achieved in football, but we are going to throw all that we have at them,” he said.

Orapa United public relations officer, Amilton Gaefele also indicated his team’s readiness for the final.

“We had a busy week in an effort to get the team ready and I have no doubt on our prospects. 

We promise nothing but a good game on Saturday,” he said.

Meanwhile, Botswana Football League operations manager, Patrick Motsepe promised attendees tight security, and indicated that they would have a security personnel of about 1 000, which would include the police and private companies.

He said that gates would open at 10am to avoid last minute congestion, and that each team had been given tickets to sell, while others would be sold through e-ticketing.

For her part, Orange Botswana communications and public relations manager, Ratang Motladiile said that this year would be historic as the winner would walk away with P800 000 while runners up would grab P400 000.

“I, therefore, appeal to supporters to come in large numbers and we are hopeful that this season will be the most successful compared to previous ones,” she said.

She said to attract a bigger crowd, they had engaged DJ La Timmy and Han C for entertainment.

Moitladiile also said that they had planned to hold the award ceremony immediately after the game. 

Player of the tournament will get P50 000, top goal scorer P30 000 while the rest of individual awards will attract P20 000 each. Ends
