BCP credible - Saleshando

19 Jun 2023

The leader of Botswana Congress Party (BCP), Mr Dumelang Saleshando says his party is credible and has what it takes to turn the tables once elected into power.

Speaking during the launch of the party’s candidate for Mmaphula East ward Mr Gaolatlhe Kenosi in Palapye on Saturday, he said there were numerous issues that needed to be addressed to liberate Batswana from economic bondage and other challenges.

He said voting for the BCP candidate would ensure that Batswana got the dignity they deserved. He said Palapye was dark and needed illumination as the situation posed a danger to residents.

He said the youth were craving to work but employment was limited which resulted in graduates roaming the streets.

He also said the shortage of drugs and medicines in government clinics and hospitals was disturbing. He promised that once elected into power the shortages would be a thing of the past.

Speaking at the same rally, Dr Kesitigile Gobotswang, who is Sefhare/Ramokgonami Member of Parliament said his party was transparent, respected the rule of law and believed in good governance.

He said it was a credible party and its candidate deserved to be voted into council to drive developments in the area.

For her part, the BCP’s women's league vice president, Ms Ethel Gaampone said her party’s principles were based on good governance.  She added that her party was dedicated to creating jobs and that the onus was on Batswana to give BCP the opportunity to prove its mettle.

She said jobs could be created through ensuring that minerals were not exported in their raw form to avoid exporting jobs to other countries.

A political veteran, Mr Robert Molefhabangwe said voters should shun hypocrites who were only looking to enrich themselves than to serve.

He said it was the norm that political parties promised heaven and earth during elections but turned their back on the electorate after being elected.

Mr Vain Mamela described his party as accountable, transparent and responsible hence he urged the electorates to vote for the BCP candidate.

He said BCP believed in the rule of law. ENDS
