Mapalastina down The Warders
23 Apr 2023
The Orange FA Cup, fondly known as Bopha Skelem, has entered the exciting lap. At the Royal Aria stadium in Tlokweng, it was a re-match of the Botswana Premier League recent fixture when Township Rollers hosted Prisons XI.
It was sweet revenge for Mapalastina, as Rollers are called, when they put three past the Warders solitary strike to book a ticket to the quarter final stage. Prisons beat Rollers 3-2 in a league fixture.
However, over the weekend, Rollers showed extreme composure in attack from the first whistle. In-form attacking midfielder, Mogakolodi Ngele applied a decent left footed finish in the fifth minute to break the ice and send multitudes of Popa fans into a frenzy.
And it was endless attack by Rollers from then, but were let down by the final execution.
Following countless in-runs into Prisons danger area, Tshepo Mooketsi illegally stopped Ngele inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot in the 26th minute. Ngele dusted himself up but struck the upright.
It was 1-0 at the break, but Jackson Lesole grabbed Rollers insurance goal in the 75th minute.
Morgan Gaseitsewe, who had replaced the injured Terry Uiseb, made a brilliant turn inside the box and his decent strike was punched to safety by Mooketsi to safety.
Prisons pulled one back in the 83rd minute.
With six minute remaining on the clock, Rollers gaffer Sergio Traquill threw in Tlhalefo Molebatsi for Ngele who was seemingly out of steam.
Two minutes later Molebatsi grabbed the third and last goal for Rollers to put the game beyond Prisons reach.
