Under 20 in camp

05 Apr 2023

The national Under 20 women football team reported for camp on Monday to prepare for COSAFA women’s Under 20 to be played in South Africa this month.

National team coach, Tapaphiwa Gaebolae, said in an interview that most of the players she had called were in the Under 20 national team in 2021, while others were graduating from U-17 or had proven themselves in the women’s league.

Gaebolae said she was confident that all the players would fight for a position in the team.

She said she was building a team that would take long in the setup, hence most of the girls being 17 years old.

The coach said she was happy the players were responding and knew the importance of making it to the national team.

“Yes most of the players will be making their debut in the national team colours, whereas like I said others were graduates from the junior team, so expectations are that they will gel as a team,” Gaebolae said.
