Tshepiso Rebatenne outclassed  Game Kebodiwang 3-0 in the final of Lefika senior women table tennis tournament in Gaborone on Saturday. 

In other results of the First Capital Bank sponsored tournament, Reneilwe Lekorwe defeated Magosi Tshipo 3-0 in the Under 12 category boys.

The Under 12 girls category was won by Setsile Mothudi after defeating teammate Gabriella Tsiake 3-1.

Bakang Maloka won the senior men category after fierce competition  in the group stages. 

The BDF club duo of Tlhobo Matlhatsi and Tshenolo Mooketsi who had been dominant in previous tournaments did not have the usual fighting spirit to carry them to the final.

Maloka showed determination to take the crown  as he defeated Kola Modisathebe 3-1.

Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) spokesperson, Tshegofatso Malepa, said in an interview that First Capital Bank conducted a draw where the winners savings accounts with the bank were credited with P500. 

Six players; Moatlhodi Bakwadi, Emmanuel Tshenolo, Victor Bathusitswe, Annah Dick, Gaone Kebodiwang and Tefo Kehitile emerged as winners of the Lefika savings account. 

Winners in the Under 12 category also opened savings accounts that were credited with P500. Malepa said the primary message of the tournament was to encourage players to save while at the peak of their careers in preparation for life after sport.

She said the tournament was also used to assess players that would be selected into the national team that would compete in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Southern Region World qualifiers to be hosted in Gaborone in June 2. Ends
