Double Action claim bragging rights

Double Action claimed the city’s bragging rights after beating Gaborone United 1-0 in the DTCB Women’s Division One league game played at Lekidi on Saturday.

Double Action’s goal was netted by Lesego Radiakanyo in the 82nd minute.

The team had an upper hand in the first half, but all its efforts were dealt with by GU’s goalkeeper, Tlamelo Pheresi, who had a good game.

Despite winning the game, Double Action coach, William Monene, said in an interview that they did not play according to their strategy as they lost many balls in the midfield.

He, however, said he was happy that they managed to collect three valuable points to continue with their unbeaten run in the league.

Monene said their main aim was to win every game and they would continue to approach every game as it comes.

“The approach we used today will be different in our next game, but all in all I am happy with the overall performance of the players,” he said.

The coach commended GU for giving them a scare, adding that they had brought something different not only to the game but women football in general.

For his part, Gaborone United coach, Innocent Morapedi, said he was disappointed given that his team did all to contain Double Action.

He said their opponents had been playing together for a long time and they understood each other very well.

“But, we gave them a good fight and they were also scared. If we could have scored, we could be saying a different story,” he said.

Morapedi said their focus would now shift to the next game, adding the league race was still open.

In other games played on Saturday, Prisons won 3-0 against FC Ambassadors, UB Kicks beat Township Rollers 2-0, while Security Systems beat Wonder Girls 2-0. Ends
