Gaborone will be divided and friends will become foes for 90 minutes on Saturday when giants, Double Action and Gaborone United (GU), meet in a DTCB Women Football Division One League game at Lekidi East.

The teams have each amassed 12 points with a goal difference separating them in the log standings.

Out of the four games they have both played, Double Action have scored 15 goals against GU’s 11.

Double Action recently beat Township Rollers 7-1 while GU garnered three points against FC Ambassadors with a 3-0 score line.

Both sides have the appropriate arsenal to not only give each other a torrid time, but to give spectators the cream of women  football.

Double Action has an array of talent that inlcudes Lesego Radiakanyo, Ontlametse Gaonyadiwe, Veronica Mogotsi, Leungo Senwelo and Segakolodi Didukanyane.

 On one hand, GU will want to be the first team to humiliate the defending champions.

Keitumetse ‘Ben-10’ Dithebe, Lone Gaofetoge, Golabaone Selebatso, Masego Koboto, Goitsemang Tlamma and Kelebogile Magaga will want to stop the hegemony of women football which Double Action enjoyed over the years.

Double Action coach, William Monene, is unfazed. 

He said in an interview that they started their preparations on Tuesday given that he wanted to give the players a rest after playing Township Rollers on Sunday.

He said GU were a closed book to him since it was promoted this season, adding that he had never watched it play.

Monene said he was cognisant of the fact that this would be a derby and a lot was a stake including bragging rights, adding that her side had over time played bigger teams.

“But my team is fine, we take every game as it comes, with no pressure. Yes we know GU will want to be the first team to beat us, so it is not going to be an easy game,” he said.

GU assistant coach, Orethusitse Oefoseng, said they had been preparing well for this  category A game.

He said all the players were in good health and they were looking forward to Saturday’s clash, which he also said was not going to be easy.

“All the players are available for selection, and the game on its own is a motivation for the players. Personally I don’t have a problem with Double Action, I have watched play on several occasions,” he said. ENDs
