Double Action GU register victories

19 Feb 2023

Double Action and Gaborone United continue to dominate the DTCB Women’s League division following their weekend win at Lekidi East and West grounds.

Double Action hammered Prisons 4-0 courtesy of Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse’s brace, Segakolodi Didukanyane and Lesego Radiakanyo.

In the other game, Keitumetse Dithebe scored a brace to ensure Gaborone United registered a third win with a slim margin of 2-1 against star-studded Security Systems who were rescued by Laone Moloi with a solitary goal.

Despite the win, Double Action coach, William Monene, said in an interview that the 4-0 score line was not a true reflection of the game.

“My players squandered a lot of scoring opportunities, we could have scored an avalanche of goals,” he said.

He said they had prepared and planned well for the game and their game plan was to over load the midfield and use their two centre forwards given that they had speed, but players did not follow the plan.

Monene said given the competitiveness of the women’s league this season, they would continue to put a fight given that bragging rights were at stake.

Prison coach, Quelch Moroke, said his defence was slow, hence Double Action managing to capitalise on that.

He said all was not lost as they would go back to training to rectify their mistakes in preparation for the next game.

“The league is still fresh, we have only played three games, so we still have an opportunity to pick up the pieces and move forward,” he said.

In the other games played on Saturday, Wonder Girls and UB Kicks played to a goalless draw, while FC Ambassadors beat Township Rollers 2-0. Ends
