Botswana Netball Association (BONA) executive committee members, Malebo Raditladi-Nkgakile and Kelebogile Maplanka have been given key roles at the Netball World Cup billed for South Africa  July 28 to August 6.

BONA spokesperson, Mokeresete Mokeresete said in an interview in Gaborone yesterday that the association was happy because two of its administrators were invited to take part in a high level competition.

He said the position of welfare and safe guarding manager given to Raditladi-Nkgakile was close to her heart and it was something she did locally, regionally and internationally.

“She is a certified International Olympic Committee (IOC) safe guarding member and we are very proud that she has been engaged for the world cup,” said Mokeresete.

He said the appointment demonstrated that Botswana had capable administrators who could be trusted with competitions of big magnitude.

Talking about Maplanka,  who will serve as champion data official at the world cup, Mokeresete, she said was roped into champion data training during the World Netball Cup qualifiers in South Africa last year. He said Maplanka would be working with other officials from Kenya and Zambia on data statistics that would be used at the world cup.

“This is a new development which we believe will help BONA because we had agreed that from the world cup, she will cascade to our structures so that they are also familiar with new developments” he said.

Meanwhile, a press release from BONA indicates that the duo was part of the Quad Series competition that ends in Cape Town today.

At the World Netball Cup in Cape Town, Group A will be made up of Australia, Tonga, Zimbabwe and Fiji.
Group B has England, Malawi, Scotland and Barbados

Group C: South Africa, Jamaica, Wales and Sri Lanka while New Zealand, Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago and Singapore make Group D. ENDS
