Security Systems Township Rollers share spoils

23 Jan 2023

Security Systems and Township Rollers fought out an exciting 1-1 draw in a pulsating Botswana Premier League encounter at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The match lived up to its billing from the first whistle as Systems came out determined and raced into a 14th minute lead through Daniel Montshiwa, only for Rollers’ second half substitute, Terry Uiseb to level matters in the dying minutes of the game.

Systems had their fair share of opportunities as Tawana  Mbakile missed a golden chance from close range as early as the third minute.

They, however, breathed with relief as they survived a Rollers attack with the crossbar coming to their rescue following  a well taken free-kick by Onkarabile Ratanang.

Rollers launched waves of attacks in search of  a goal and were almost rewarded in the 27th minute when Tlhalefo Molebatsi’s shot crashed the crossbar.

Rollers gaffer, Sérgio Traguil had to dig deep in the substitute bench and he brought on Segolame Boy and Lobopo Moremi for teenage debutants Thapelo Balatlheng and Philip Kaku.

Traguil’s technical  awareness eventually  paid off with two second half substitutes combining when Mogakolodi  Ngele  released  Namibian international Uiseb to level matters.

Rollers are now on position four with 23 points while Systems are occupying position five, three  points  behind  Rollers.

In his post match interview, coach Wire Kaelo of Systems applauded his team for a positive in the  game and sticking to their roles.

“From a 2-1 defeat against BDF X1, it was important to bounce back and approach the Rollers game with a positive mindset,” he said. He, however, said it was disappointing that the could not defend their lead until the final whistle.

For his  part, Traguil said a draw at home was not what they were looking for, but that it was work in progress since he was still new at the club.

“We  need  to change our  mentality and transform into  a formidable  side  we are renowned  off,” he said.  He noted that they dominated games, but that the scoring rate was low. ENDS
