Jwaneng Galaxy on Saturday embarked on a membership drive, which will see it working closely with communities.

Speaking at an event in Sese near Jwaneng, the club’s marketing manager, Mike Kandjii, said their intention was to identify talent and nurture it.

He said the club could assist the community to grow talent.

“I urge you to register as members of the club so that we can work together to better your lives,” he said.

Kandjii said they were not only focusing on football, but other sporting codes as well as any other initiatives such as arts and culture to empower the people.

“We have assisted a good number of artistes to record their albums as members come with ideas on how we could empower you,” he said.

Being a member of the club, he said came with many benefits such as funeral cover, which had no age limit. Kandjii said they were hoping to find land in Sese where they could build their stadium and a shop, adding such developments would create employment for the community.

On one hand, he pleaded with members to rally behind the team as it intended to win the premier league

“We could successfully achieve our goals with your support, this is your team. Let us work together to grow it, there is free transport to our games,” he said.

He further indicated that sport kept people, especially the youth, away from crime, among many other social ills.

For his part, Kgosi Justice Motlhalani thanked Jwaneng Galaxy for finding it fit to empower communities and further urged residents to rally behind the team.

He shared Kandjii’s sentiments that sport kept the youth from social ills, adding that being engaged in the club’s activities would keep them occupied.

Kgosi Motlhalani said identifying talent and nurturing it from a tender age was crucial as sport could be a source of income, adding ‘not all would excel academically but they might be gifted in sport.’ ENDS
