Masitaoka over power Nico United

16 Jan 2023

Masitaoka stunned Nico United 2-1 in Molepolole on Saturday.

Nico United took the lead in the first half through an own goal by Ivan Kamberipa.

Masitaoka coach, Mandela Mpofu, changed tactics in the second half and introduced Tapiwa Sepatela and Itumeleng Salani who changed the game.

Masitaoka took control of the game and forced Nico United to commit errors and give numerous corners.

Two minutes into the second-half, Masitaoka benefited from a corner kick and Salani equalised.

Masitaoka stunned the visitors in the 89th minute as Lethabo Ogotseng flicked the ball over Nico’s Gaolatlhe Tshupegetso’s hands.

The goal left Nico’s coach, Philani Ncube fuming as he could not accept such a silly mistake.

After the game, Ncube’s anger and frustration had not subsided as he believed his goalkeeper could have done better.

He also said he was using inexperienced players and urged supporters to be patient with them.

“This is a great team and they are not relegation material as you can see that their play is good,“ he said.

It was all smiles for Mpofu as his team grabbed its sixth win.

He said there was nothing as joyful as making substitutions that led to victory.

He commended Sepatela, Salani and Ogotseng who came on as substitutes and changed the game. ENDS
