Jwaneng Galaxy easily brushed aside Extension Gunners 3-0 in a pulsating premier league tier in Jwaneng on Saturday.
Both teams attacked each other from the first whistle and they were exposed at the back in their eagerness to score an early goal.
Galaxy relied on diagonal balls and their defensive prowess to get the better of Gunners, which played unnecessary passes.
There was also a mix-up in decision making in the Gunners camp.
Galaxy’s utility player, Lucky Mokoena, was the star of the day as he scored a brace.
The first strike was in the 24th minute when he unleashed a thunderbolt that gave Gunners goal minder, Keeagile Kgosipula no chance.
In the 38th minute, Mokoena scored again to make it 2-0.
Daniel Msendami increased Gunners’ woes in the 47th minute. He sliced through Gunners defenders to make his way into the final third and taped the ball into the net.
In a post-match interview, Gunners mentor Philimon Makhwengwe decried his strikers’ poor finishing.
He also said his midfielders were a let down.
Makhwengwe said his players players were too slow on the transition resulting in their opponents getting an upper hand.
Galaxy gaffer, Morena Ramoreboli, said playing a team that was not doing well was tricky because they could never be confident about victory.
He said they relied on taking their chances as early as possible and it worked.
He said they were aware that nothing easy would come their way and that they would continue to grind out results. ENDS
