Magosi register victory

Mochudi Centre Chiefs  beat Jwaneng-based side Young Stars 1-0 in a Debswana First Division game in Mochudi on Saturday.

The goal came from Tebogelo Malego in the 21st minute when Centre Chiefs aka Magosi were awarded a penalty.

Despite collecting the maximum points, Magosi’s gaffer,  Daniel ‘Chicco’ Nare said he was not impressed by his team’s performance given that they wasted  a lot of scoring opportunities.

“It was not a beautiful game. We were better first half because our opponents  failed to read our tactics, but as the game progressed they managed to gel as a team and put more pressure on us,” he said.

This, he said, forced him to change formation in the second half.

“So in key areas we were not smart, but we settled to defend our lead so that we close the gap in the log standing,” he said.

However, Nare said he would utilise the transfer window to beef up his squad especially in attack.

He said, funds permitting, his ambition was to lure few premier league players to Centre Chiefs because the team’s desire was to play in the elite league.

“Honestly the expectations are very high, Centre Chiefs want to get promoted to the elite league, but that can only happen if players are happy and attend training,” he said.

For his part, Young Stars coach, Oris Radipotsane said they lost because they did not play their normal game.

He said players failed to play according to plan, adding they only improved in the second half, but they could not keep the ball.

Furthermore, Radipotsane said players lost ball in the attacking third and that gave Centre Chiefs an upper hand.

“But we will correct our mistakes and move forward,” he added.

In other games played on Saturday, log leaders CRACKIT City Polars continued with their good run as they won 2-1 against Flamingo Santos in Gabane.

URI Black Forest collected three points after winning 3-2 against Matebejana at Black Forest Arena.

VTM FC had a field day against Black Rangers beating them 5-1.
Notwane beat Broadhurst United 2-0 at SSG Ground, while Matebele and Tlokweng United played to a one all draw. Ends
