Victory takes Security Systems to fourth position

12 Dec 2022

Security Systems secured their fourth win in a row with a 2-1 victory over Eleven Angels at Lobatse Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The win puts the Alarm Boys into fourth place with 15 points, four behind log leaders Gaborone United in the Botswana Premier League (BPL) .

Systems applied pressure in the opening minutes of the hard fought encounter with forward Morris Ruzivo firing over the posts in the 13th minute after good exchange of passes with Takunda Sadiki.

Sadiki headed a good opportunity over the posts four minutes later after receiving a good pass from Letlhogonolo Chenjela.

However, Shanganani Ngada and Theo Masuo held firm at the heart of the Angels defence and the visitors gradually found their footing.

Angels began conjuring some good moves through Ronny Leagetse, Mompati Mbidzo, Mompati Mmeshe and Monty Enosa.

Mmeshe tested Systems goalkeeper, Michael Masule, with a low drive in the 28th minute, while the goalkeeper also made a comfortable save from an attempt by Enosa.

Both teams were, however, solid at the back and the match went to a break goalless.

Systems head coach Kaelo ‘Wire’ Kaelo brought on forwards Bokang Rathipana and Molaodi Tlhalefang, as well as fullback Daniel Montshiwa at the beginning of the second half in an effort to wrestle control of the match.

Systems immediately put pressure on the Angels defence and broke the deadlock in the 48th minute when midfielder, Walter Sande collected a pass on the edge of the penalty area and fired into the top corner.

Angels’ goalkeeper, Tambani Bachopi, kept his team in the match afterwards with two brilliant saves from Rathipana and Chenjela.

However, he could not stop Tlhalefang doubling the lead from close range in the 67th minute.

The visitors however continued fighting with substitute Keletso Ogotseng causing problems for the Systems defence.

They pulled one goal back through Ofentse Mbaiwa in the 76th minute after former Angels’ defender Kefilwe Sekgopi failed to clear the ball. However, the goal was shrouded in controversy. Referee Tshepo Gobagoba blew the whistle before Mbaiwa scored. But the goal was awarded after the referee consulted with assistant referee Jima Montsho.

The defeat left Angels on position seven with nine points from seven matches.

They will visit struggling Nico United in Selebi Phikwe on Saturday. Systems on one hand will take on bottom of the log Holy Ghost on Friday. ENDs
