Rollers Stanbic renew partnership

07 Dec 2022

Stanbic Bank has renewed its partnership with Township Rollers until 2025 in a deal worth P4.5 million.

The relationship was re-launched on Tuesday to continue the six-year partnership that started in 2016 with a sponsorship of P3.6 million.

It was after such historic occasion that Rollers went on to win three league titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Speaking at the sponsorship renewal, Rollers’ chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi applauded Stanbic Bank for its exceptional professionalism and trust on Rollers as an important partner and a brand with mutual values and goals. Mamelodi said it was important for Rollers to continue creating excitement and a highly competitive environment so as to remain relevant and attractive.

“For us at Rollers, it has always been of critical importance that we must continually improve our brand and instill belief in Stanbic Bank that we will deliver on their commercial requirements,” he said.

He said football had over the years evolved from being a unifying force and for social inclusion to becoming a business entity, hence Rollers had to commercialise its properties and creatively package them before going to the market.

“It has been critical to build a sellable football product in order to inspire sponsor confidence. Patience was key, even at a modest level, when we were re-courting Stanbic Bank,” he said.

He said Rollers had always been alive to the reality that once they secured the continuation of their Stanbic partnership, high sponsorship and membership retention would be a priority.

On one hand, Stanbic Bank chief executive officer, Chose Modise, said the sponsorship renewal was proof of their commitment to sport development. Modise said Rollers were one of the best administered teams in the country, with a huge fan base, therefore it was fitting for the bank to associate with the club even for better business mileage.

“The partnership brings a lot of business potential for the bank to reach a wider clientele,” he said.

He added that Stanbic Bank highly recognised the importance of building strong bonds and partnerships for meaningful and sustainable impact on both parties involved, thus the bank’s involvement in various sporting codes over the years.

“It is further the bank’s desire to directly use the partnership to connect with the football supporters and various stakeholders and provide informed financial solutions,” he said.

Also, he said the growth of football provided a perfect platform for corporate institutions to reach out to a wider market, and therefore pleaded with the business community to embark on sponsorship deals. ENDS
