Chiefs fall to City Polar

04 Dec 2022

Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ unbeaten run came to an abrupt end in Ramonaka on Saturday when they received a 1-2 beating from Crack It City Polar.

Chiefs supporters had turned up in large numbers to support their Debswana First Division South outfit. Most supporters stilll believe Chiefs can win the league and earn an automatic promotion to the elite league, but judging from their weekend’s performance, the side still has a mountain to climb.

The usual 4-3-3 formation failed to bring desired results as Chiefs constantly lost balls in the midfield, resulting in their opponents constantly knocking on their goalposts.

In the first half, Chiefs alias Magosi had numerous chances although they were long balls  and midfielders could not find a path to connect with their strikers due to City Polars’ hardworking midfield. With about three minutes of the first half remaining, Chiefs were awarded a penalty following a handball in the penalty area and Tabogelo Malebogo easily converted, sending Magosi supporters into celebration.

However, their moment of glory was short as the hosts equalised from a corner kick to ensure the two sides were equal at half-time.

Three minutes into the second half, Chiefs’ defence against crosses haunted them as City Polar netted their second and winning goal. The victory propelled City Polar to the summit of the Debswana First Division South league, tied at 11 points with Notwane while Magosi dropped to the third spot with 10 points.ENDS
