Bontshetse new BFA second VP
27 Nov 2022
Maokaneng Bontshetse whitewashed Lobito Ncube by 27-1 votes to ascend the Botswana Football Association second vice president seat.
Bontshetse got the nod from the delegates during the BFA ordinary general assembly in Gaborone on Saturday.
He clinched the post that was previously held by Senki Sesinyi whose name was not ratified by the delegates, hence being barred for the race.
The assembly, which came in the backdrop of the hotly contested regional elections also ratified Masego Nchingane as the association’s first vice president position.
Nchingane assumed the seat following the resignation of former vice president Marshlow Motlogelwa in February.
Bontshetse had previously lost out to Motlogelwa by a slim margin of one vote in the 2020 elective congress, a decision he appealed citing voting irregularity and his recent victory raises question over the current regime’s ability to hold on to power in the next elective congress.
Bontshetse is not a new in football administration and he was vocal in the promotion of regional football structures and sponsorship acquisition. ENDS
