The Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) has unveiled a P200 000 sponsorship deal for the open championship tournament. 

The tournament, sponsored by  Liquid Intelligent Technology Botswana, will commence tomorrow and will run for five weeks with the final billed for December 3.

Announcing the sponsorship this week, the Liquid Intelligent Technology Botswana managing director, Odirile Tamajobe, said the tournament was an opportunity for players to showcase their talent.

“Liquid Intelligent Technology Botswana is privileged to offer support and play a part in the development of sport,” said Tamajobe. 

He said the support was not only limited to the financial injection as it included internet connectivity at the tournament games.

“The company will also be the official sponsor for water at the tournament,” Tamajobe added. 

Acting BVF president, Ndibo Lebala, said funds would be spent accordingly for the benefit of volleyball. 

“We are happy to have a partner like you in the development of volleyball,” he said.

Lebala said the country’s volleyball clubs and national teams wanted to continue with their dominance in the regional and international stage. 

“We wish for your support to be prolonged. We require the use of technology to grow and accordingly document and preserve volleyball data,” he said. 

Botswana National Sports Commission acting director for sports development, Peaceful Seleka, said sport was primarily funded by government and as such financial support from the private sector was appreciated. 

Seleka said such support would push the volleyball fraternity towards the desired development.

Giving an overview of the tournament, BVF vice president technical, Percy Roberts, said all the 10 women teams would take part as well as top four men teams from the previous tournaments.

The tournament  will also feature U-20 national teams to prepare them for the Region 5 Games on December 5.

 The tournament will commence with the women’s teams that will be divided into two pools. Ends
