Jwaneng Galaxy FC unveil logo

30 Oct 2022

Jwaneng Galaxy FC has unveiled its long awaited logo at a ceremony that was also organised to appraise stakeholders on commitments for the 2022/23 season.

The decision to revamp the logo was mainly informed by the fact that the old logo blended heavily with the colours of the jerseys, therefore did not stand out as would have been preferred.

The team’s general manager, Steven Maleka said during the launch on Thursday that “A logo is one of the major brandings of any team, and it is important that when it is printed on a jersey, it stands out and becomes easily visible to the eye. We noted with concern during our CAF assignments that the colours were not that proper and the resolution was low, especially for the television screens. There was too much white space in the old logo, which we tried to close in the new one,” he said.

Maleka also said the new logo has a history of the club as it indicated year of establishment, as was the norm with logos of football teams.

The club’s public relations officer, Tankiso Morake said despite the changes, they tried to keep as much as possible, major definitions from the old logo.

“What we did was to just shuffle the colours and the icons we have on the old logo around. It is just a rearrangement and we still have icons such as the stars, the shield and the diamonds,” he said.

Apart from unveiling the logo, the team also unveiled new players they have signed for the coming season, notable among them;  midfielder, Kutlwelo Mpolokang who makes a return from Township Rollers, defender Benson Mangolo, Allen Ndodole as well as former Extension Gunners goal poachers, Kabelo Babusi.

For his word, head coach, Morena Ramoreboli thanked all stakeholders that have contributed to the team’s activities in the last season, including sponsors, and said with the quality of players available, it was possible to return to continental football and perform even better.

He also made an assurance that Galaxy FC would be going all out to challenge for all the honours this season.

“The past two weeks have been tough and emotional, but we are confident that we have prepared well. We are confident of winning and we are ready. All players are ready and the fight for the starting 11 will be tight,” he said to the applause of the gathering.

The level of readiness was also reiterated by first captain, Thabo Leinanyane, who called for all the necessary support from the management to motivate the players to give their best.

“The dressing room is united although as players we sometimes get disappointed by supporters when we are not appreciated, especially after a loss. It’s vital to start the campaign well and that is our intention,” he said.

Secretary general, Onkamile Robert also said that the team was embarking on a journey and wanted this season to be its championship expedition.

“We are on a journey to conquer, hence the need to plan well together so each knows what is expected of them.

This will also foster synergy among all. So I call for the support of all stakeholders,” he said.

“As a committee we are committed to being closer to the team so we can be aware of its every challenge and need,” he said.

During the ceremony, the team also received a boost from sponsors such as Kgaga Belting, who pledged P100 000 while Mega Mining committed P50 000. Ends
