BFA appeals to qualified coaches

Botswana Football Association (BFA) has expressed displeasure over some licensed coaches who do not employ their skills to enhance the sport.
The association has observed that while some coaches have benefitted from coaching clinics and possess licenses, they have disappeared from the game.
BFA technical director, Tshepo Mphukuthi said this in an interview on the sidelines of five phased CAF ‘A’ license course which started on Monday to end on February next year.
He, however, said he was optimist that the 21 participants enrolled in the course would coach after graduating.
“Even if they are not at premier league level, they can assist at any level as that will help us to develop players,” he said.
Mphukuthi said all the coaches participating in the course had reached their peak and therefore needed to be cognisant of the methods that they should apply to get the desirable results.
“As you go up, the methodology in terms of training approach, differs from that of youth. The youth level, most of the time applies progressive method, to develop the players from one stage to another,” he said.
Furthermore, he said Botswana Premier League compliance continued to call on the elite league coaches to be having a CAF ‘A’ license. He said because they were yet to run the ‘A’ license, they had to waiver that the B license holders should be in charge.
This, Mphukuthi said, was equivalent to European Football Associations (EUFA) A’ license, adding coaches willing to coach in Europe would however to undergo the EUFA A license.
“Equally those coming to Africa with have to first do the CAF ‘A’ license, mind you there is no difference in the two but I think it is only a matter of verification,” he said.
Talking about the course, he said this time they had incorporated sport science, such as sport psychology, exercise physiology which forms an integral part of sport nowadays. ends
