Coaches training key - Mfolo

Participants attending a CAF A License coaching course have been advised to take it with bravery.
Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo, said this at the course official opening in Gaborone on Tuesday.
He said after graduating, participants should target grassroots for development.
He told pioneers of the CAF A License in Botswana that their graduation would be a first for the country.
“The most important thing for you to do is to pull those that are behind you as well,” he said.
Football, Mfolo said, had become complicated, hence the need to research and develop it further, adding he was confident that after attaining the A license, participants would help develop football.
Mfolo said four of the participants would be selected to become certified coach educators for the CAF A License under the mentorship of an experienced senior instructor.
“This means that the next batch of local coaches will be trained by some of you here today. This is a significant moment in the development and growth of the game,” he said.
He said from 2009-2016, coach education had collapsed in the country, adding expectations were that course participants would be the pioneers of CAF A License in Botswana.
For his part, CAF instructor, Willy Kapukare, said this was a high level course, which needed a lot of hard work.
He said he was happy that the course had now reached Botswana, therefore coaches would not travel to Europe in search for an elite license.
“Again, this high level courses should be conducted in Africa by Africans so that we continue to help each other and grow,” said Kapukare.
Course captain, Kaelo Kaelo, said Botswana football had reached a new milestone, given that this was a first group of coaches to be drilled in the elite course. He said he was confident that after finishing the course, they would improve the sport, given that the material they used was of high standard, new and expectation was that they would also share it with people they worked with.
About 21 participants are attending the course, which will be held in five phases, ending in February 2023. Ends
