C4L Cycling Club wraps up MTB races this weekend

26 Oct 2022

Cycle4Life Cycling Club will on Saturday host the last Mountain Bike (MTB) discipline challenge of the year.

To be held at Palm Valley Gardens, the race is intended to reflect on the club’s achievements of the year.

“It is also a culmination of months of hard work in a cycling calendar year,” Cycle4Life president, Themba Giddie said.

Giddie said the club wanted to bring together all its members and welcome new ones to ride as a team, adding however that the club race was open to other cycling clubs.

He noted that the route for the race was less technical and mostly flat, particularly to allow beginners to enjoy the race ambiance.

“With the limited number of MTB races in the country, our club attracts old and new riders to competitive cycling, hence the not so technical course,” he said.

Although it is not a technical route course, Giddie said they expected elite and seasoned MTB riders, as well as junior cyclists.

The club race has 60km as the main race, 30 km light and fun race as well as 5km kiddies’ race.

“We expect large numbers of riders on the 30km race, especially beginners,” Giddie said.

Registration for the race is ongoing at P250 for the main race, P150 for the 30km fun ride, while the kiddies’ race is free. Cyclists can register online at www.ucbtiming.co.bw as well as Grip Runners shop at Sebele Mall in Gaborone. Ends
