Nico United have launched new kits in preparation for the 2022/23 season.

Known to fans and football enthusiasts as Majombolo, the team was promoted to the premier league after an outstanding performance in the Debswana First Division North League.

“The launch is a way of inspiring the vibrant and soccer loving community of Selebi Phikwe, who had to wait for six years for Majombolo to return to Botswana Premier League,” said Nico United’s deputy chairperson, Tebogo Mabina in Selebi Phikwe on Thursday.

He said the team was prepared and ready for the elite league.

Both home and away shirts are predominantly in the traditional green and yellow, with the green home shirt having white leopard inspired sleeves and yellow spots.

“Our opponents will throughout this season be reminded by the bold leopard inspired sleeves that they are in the danger and should be cautious,” stated the team’s public relations officer, Ntibi Kedikilwe.

He said the new jerseys both featured subtle geometric patterns with the club crest sitting on the left side of the upper chest.

Town mayor, Lucas Modimana, thanked the designers, Evolia, for going all out to promote the team ahead of the premier league commencement.

He said the new kit was a reflection of the team’s ambition for the next season.

Modimana explained that it was time for the team to solicit sponsorship from the business community across the country, adding though many companies were still reeling from the COVID-19 shock, the team should go out and solicit financial partnerships.

He said it should also brand itself as a business partner and enable companies to gain mileage for associating with them.
