The third edition of the Lotlhakane East horse race was recently held at Tutudu farms.

Grooving News from Magwereapitse was the toast of the day as he won the 2 400 metres grand race for the thorough breeds and trotted away with P2 550.

He was followed by Rabia the Rabel who won P2 050 and Oska wa Ncheba finished on third position winning P1 550.

In the 1 600 metres for the thorough breeds, Rabia the Rabel revenged his loss in the main race by outsprinting Grooving News and winning P1 250. Grooving News came second and won P850 while Two Guys finished third and walked away with P600.

In the 1 400 metres for thorough breeds, Tswapong got position one and won P1 250 while Oseka wa Ncheba came second and Simple Lady followed on third position. They won P850 and P600 respectively.

Tswapong again dominated the 1 200 metres category winning P1 050 while Little Diny came second and Big Boy third. They ran away with P750 and P550 respectively.

Tswana and cross breeds also took part in the competition in the 400, 800, 1 000, 1 200 and 1 600 metres category.

Rorisang Phadima, who owns Grooving News, said he was not surprised by his horses performance as he always made it to the podium in different competitions around the country. He attributed his success to taking good care of his horses, vaccinating them as required and feeding them recommended rations as well as training.

“My horses put food on the table, hence I spend money of them knowing it is an investment,” he said.  ENDS
