Several activities have been arranged by various sporting codes to celebrate this year’s independence.

The main Independence Day celebrations at the National Stadium will be sealed by an encounter between women’s national football team, The Mares and the Brave Gladiators of Namibia.

Softball will host the annual Independence Softball Tournament. 

Sponsored by Archein Hardware Group to the tune of P250 000, the tournament will kickstart on Independence Day and conclude on October 2, featuring both men and female teams.

Meanwhile Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) will also stage the grand finale of Phoenix Assurance-sponsored tournament on Independence Day at Botho University multi-purpose hall.

The Botswana Chess Federation will also host the finals of the Debswana Developmental Chess Championship at the University of Botswana. 

The tournament has been ongoing for the past three month and will be coming to an end over the weekend.

The prize giving ceremony for the tourney will be held on Sunday with the winning team receiving P16 000, second position P13 000 while the third placed team will walk away with P10 500. Ends
