Ncenga tourney this weekend

Eight social clubs will this Saturday September 24, participate in a football tournament aimed at raising funds for former Zebras and Township Rollers defender, Obuile ‘Oscar’ Ncenga, who was involved in a road accident last December.
The accident occurred on his way to Maposa, where his home team, Mosetse FC was to play a second division match.
Oscar and others sustained serious injuries and were taken to Tutume primary hospital.
Oscar sustained a thigh and arm injury and though he is recovering, he now has limited mobility, walks with a limp and has retired from football.
One of the tournament organisers, Innocent Siku said the weekend extravaganza would be played at Mosetse Village Development Committee grounds.
He said they had invited eight teams amongst them, Mosetse Masters, Mowana Social Club, Sowa FC, Stress and Gareitere as well as a team made up of Ncenga’s friends.
He explained that the weekend tournament is expected to raise at least P30 000, if all goes according to plan.
Siku said they had already secured various sponsors for the tournament, with Security Systems having already contributed P5 000.
Vula Chose, a Chobe based bottling water company, has promised to supply bottled water whilst Siku Farms would provide vegetables, he added.
Easy by Night Club has promised to provide football equipment such as football nets, soccer ball cones and whistles, while the organising committee had printed T-shirts, which are being sold to raise funds.
The T-shirts go for P200.
Siku explained that the former Township Rollers defender was no longer able to sustain himself because the accident robbed him of a livelihood.
He said, Oscar, who is a professional brick-layer was now unable to build houses.
Regarding the funds to be raised, he said Oscar would decide what to use the money for, adding that he (Oscar) had shown interest in starting his own company or venturing into farming.
Siku said football legends, some former Zebras players in the likes of Joel Mogorosi, Mompati Thuma, Alphonse Modisaotsile and Mokgathi Mokgathi, would attend and play in the tournament.
“The objective is to organise more similar tournaments in the future so that we can raise as much as we can,” he said.
A seven-time league champion with Rollers, the Mosetse-born started his football career with Mosetse Young Stars.
At the time of his accident, he was playing for Sua Flamingoes, which he joined as a 17-year-old back in 2004.
Oscar was not available for comment at the time of going to press. Ends
