Meat on Fire goes international

Struggles from COVID-19 effects have propelled a team of entrepreneurs to market their craft through an event dubbed Meat on Fire Africa to neighbouring countries such as South Africa and Lesotho.
The brains behind the initiative and team leader pit Master Kaelo Sabone said the COVID-19 pandemic challenged them to leave their comfort zone after realising that people were no longer going out in large numbers.
Sabone explained that Meat on Fire Africa was a culinary adventure that afforded them the opportunity to showcase the versatility of meat ranging from pork, beef and chicken.
“As the name says, Meat on Fire Africa is an initiative for the continent. It is set to represent Africa wherever and whenever each country calls,” he said.
He said having been in the food industry since 2010, he found his niche in cooking and serving meat hence the decision to share his passion with the world.
“We started in Botswana then Lesotho and we are preparing for Pretoria on September 24, from Pretoria we would be touring other African countries, he said.
Sabone said capitalising on potential customers regionally was a process that could give new life, especially in areas where the company’s offerings are unique in the marketplace.
He said businesses of this nature relied on the movement of people and their will to go out and have fun. He said his concept helped to drive people to try out something new and fresh.
Sabone pointed out that the initiative was also meant to boost the hospitality sector in general to gain more traction.
“We are now working with different hotels, lodges and restaurants to use the event to re-ignite their businesses,” he said.
Regarding challenges Mr Sabone noted that the first risk to consider was possible supply chain complications.
He also mentioned the exchange rates which could fluctuate at any time of day due to factors outside the company’s control.
Despite the challenges, Mr Sabone advised young people that the world was for all and they should never be afraid to go international
“They should learn and know that adrenaline is actually a beautiful thing. Once you manage that fear you become unstoppable and you can go places”. ENDS
