The Mares face Twiga Stars today

The senior national team, the Mares will face Twiga Stars of Tanzania in a Group C clash of HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA women’s championships, today.
The Mares played to a one-all draw against marauding Malawi on Friday, while Tanzania walloped Comoros 3-0.
Today’s game will be a test of character for the youthful Mares side, given that the defending champions, Tanzania can be ruthless inside the box.
However, the Mares draw against Malawi was a motivation given that coach Gaoletlhoo Nkutlwisang had travelled with debutants, who are, therefore, hungry for success.
She said, in an interview, that they had a bad day in office during their game with Malawi, given that their opponents used their regulars.
‘At least we managed to hold them.
We knew very well that they would be using wing play, and we tried to block them, despite the fact that they launched some attacks in the first six minutes and they managed to find an opening goal,” she said.
The coach, however, said today’s clash would be a total different game and they would leave no stone unturned as they faced the defending champions.
She said they were aware that Tanzania would come guns blazing, adding that they had collected three points in their opening game, which served as a motivation for them.
The Mares want to win their game and they will use the same game plan they used against Malawi even though they were physical, said Nkutlwisang.
The coach said she was confident that they would match Tanzania pound for pound, adding that on paper, the Mares had an upper hand.
She said she was happy that the girls were responding well and they were looking forward to taking Twiga Stars head on.
They need only seven points to qualify for the next round, hence a win against Tanzania is inevitable, he said. ENDS
